Hello All,
Another summer has passed by and fall is in the air. We need to use the word summer lightly though. We really did not have much of a real summer though in terms of weather. Middle of August here in NW Ontario did warm up very nicely to where we actually used our A/C in the office two days and had a few comfortable days without rain. Other than that, many cool, windy and rainy days, which many of our fishermen can vouch for. Water levels this summer in the lakes never went low. Water went over the docks in many of the lakes due to high water. Fire hazards were never an issue this season. Fishing was still good through all of that. Many of our customers said they did find the fish in different places than they normally found them in previous years due to the unusual weather. Still good fishing. Just different, with the cool year, the weed growth on the lakes was very much behind schedule too.
Breaking News.. 2010 trip preview. Reduced rates. Anyone who shops at Wal Mart will know this next statement. Rolling back prices. L & M is rolling back the normal rates for 2010 in comparison to our old rates. Make sure to review our new prices if you're wanting a fly in for 2010. Due to the economic times we all face, we are making adjustments and trying to help everyone else cope with how the current economy is shaping up. We know how many of you still want to do this type of holiday and we want to be able to provide a memorable fishing vacation to everyone without having to charge overly high prices, but yet still be able to make a profit to keep up the L & M standards. A basic run down will reveal new price bracketing for groups from 2 people to 12 people. It's a total overhaul to the prices so please take a look.

We are still running some specials too. All prices and specials are listed; feel free to inquire if you have any questions. Our rates have NO surcharges add such as for fuel that some outfitters do if the fuel prices go high. Our prices are per person, do not include fishing license, tax and quoted in USD dollars.
We also want to give a huge THANK YOU to all our customers in 2009. If it wasn't for all of you who come on your trips with L & M, we could not do what we do. For those who are not yet L & M customers but thinking about a trip with L & M in the future, we invite you to shop and compare with our fellow competition. At these new prices and what L & M provides, you cannot go wrong with L & M. More enjoyment for your buck! Why go anywhere else?
DEPOSIT REMINDER: If L & M is holding dates for you and you have not sent in your deposit for your 2010 trip, they are now due. Remember, $300.00 per person holds the dates and lake you specify.
Pictures!!!!! If anyone who hasn't sent in pictures of your 2009 trip to L & M yet, please feel free to do so. We are getting some good shots, but we can never have too many. Unless we get any new reports that we not have been told about, the big fish of the year goes to the Seitter Party. A monster 47 1/2 inch pike caught from our Fishtrap camp. Many 40 plus inch pike where caught this season though, in all the lakes but that pike takes the cake. Many large walleyes were caught, too, this summer with the biggest breaking over the 30 inch mark. It is always our pleasure to hear the stories as the customers tell us the details of each catch. It also makes us feel good and shows that our catch and release program is working!
Cabin projects have been coming along nicely. Austin was the biggest project we tackled this summer. We laid down new underlay with tile on top for the flooring, new kitchen cabinets, re arranged the cabin layout, and also turned the cabin system into electric with the use of a generator for some of the cabin functions, with the solar as back up. It's always amazing how a small job always leads into a larger job as many remodel projects go. New pictures are on the web site to show the cabin. This project is another trial and error thing just as last years' Otatakan lake toilet, since we are going to a generator we are adding in the bigger, electric fridge and freezer which should be much more efficient than the propane to cool down your food/beverages. We are also adding in fluorescent lights which throw much more lighting than the solar, adding in a microwave, and a ceiling fan. Yes a ceiling fan to either circulate the heat from the new wood stove or circulate some air on those hot summer days. All these are just for Austin lake cabin and to see how this new system works out and if it works out well, we'll be thinking about converting the other cabins to this. Fishtrap cabin we did go back into and did more work too, adding in a 2nd refrigerator and built a new 8 X 12 storage shed. We also did a few little items around the other camps too. At the airbase, we built a new 20 X 20 storage shed too. Always need more room for storage.
Below is an email we received recently that you may enjoy. We found it to be very interesting and straight to the point of what these types of trips are about. We are sure you will think the same too.
"Now that I'm settled back in the world of reality amid work challenges and a root canal job, I've had several occasions to reflect on our Canada trip. Here are my reflections:"
1) You guys are a great bunch to fish with.
2) The overall experience of our fly-in trips are without question some of my fondest memories in life.
3 The absence or radio, TV, internet, email and cell phones is absolutely great!
4) The serious decisions of each day are limited to: Which lake to fish, fish or burgers for dinner, which color Cleo to use, and two or three olives in my martini?
5) Our steak day meal prayer of thanks and remembrance of past fishing partners is an inspirational moment.
6) The steak and hors d'oeuvres dinner is the best meal of the year.
7) Releasing a 39" Pike is as much fun as catching him.
8) The sound of the waves under the boat and the flapping of a pike in the bottom of the boat is music to my ears.
9) The coughing to life of the big radial engines on the twin beech at 6:15 AM sounds 1000% better than my daily alarm clock!
10) L&M is the best outfitter in Canada! Thanks Shane, Larry and Mary!
11) I'm ready to go back next year!
Thank you Gary from the Schmitt Party, for sharing this with us and granting L & M your permission to share your thoughts with others who read our newsletters. Words well spoken!!
Fall is in the air, be pretty soon hunting season will have taken over our actions. We look forward to posting our next newsletter to you around the holidays with our hunting season report. In the mean time, God bless, and let's hope for a little nice weather yet to finish out our season.
