Hello,
We hope everyone is enjoying the start of 2009. This winter has been bringing lots of winter cold sub zero temps and bunches of snow so far in NW Ontario. Many mornings we have seen negative 30-40 and even a couple of minus 49 degrees F. We have heard of many places around the country also getting some wintery conditions, too. People have asked how much snow has fallen this year?? I can not say exactly. However the snow piles from clearing the snow from the driveway is getting rather large. Still a lot of time between now and spring, but if I had to guess this spring should hold good water levels on the lakes due to the good amount of snow fall so far. As the season progresses forward will tell more for sure.
PASSPORT reminder:
We have made many notifications on this issue. Passports are required starting June 1, 2009. We have had a customer ask recently if we thought he should get his passport for this year.YES!!!! If you have not gotten your passport yet, DO IT NOW. This rule is not going away and you will need it. The other item on this subject, REMEMBER TO BRING YOUR PASSPOT WITH YOU. It does not do you any good to have forgotten your passport at home. This rule is not for you to enter Canada, it is for you to go back home to the USA after your trip. We talked to the agency who is in charge with passports in the post office at International Falls. Timelines are roughly 3 weeks waiting period to get your passport at the present time and they expect the times to be longer as the deadline date of June 1 nears closer due to a lot of people who will wait till the last minute to apply.
One change that we need to make everyone aware of for 2009. Yet again the government has changed things. Ontario has made changes to the fishing regulations. The regulations for fishing are the same however Ontario has decided to go to a new system for non-resident fishing license. They are going to an outdoor card so when you fill out your license on your 2009 trip, you will be issued a tempory paper lic for the time being. After the agent (if buying the license from L & M) we will turn in forms, that you will fill out, to the local MNR office and they will be sending you an outdoor card to the address you fill out on the form, which will be good for 3 years. (So it will be very important this year to clearly fill the forms out that can be read by others) This will add an extra cost of 9.00 per license to the cost of the license. Each year for the next 3 years you can bring your new outdoor card with you and renew your fishing license by paying for a yearly sticker to the license. This will help speed things up in obtaining your fishing license as just a sticker will be placed on the back to validate the follow years. It is very important to bring the Outdoor Card with you on all future trips beyong 2009. This will be something new for all non-residents fishing Ontario this year, however it is not a new concept, as residents have the outdoor card system in effect. I'm sure this new system will be nice after the fact, however please don't blame us for the new change as we liked the system just fine the way it was.
All is well here with the Adams. We have spent a last week at Travis and Chris' spending time with them and Jaycie. Travis had hernia surgery so we were lucky enough to go and help out.
Now this week we have the other three grandchildren staying with us while Lucas and Nikki are in Louisville KY doing a sport show. That is what is best about the down time.
It is no secret to most of you know we love to hunt. The time of year is once again approaching with applying for those wonderful hunts. If any of you hunters need any assistance in filling out the applications, feel free to let us know and we can help out the best we can. (Believe, me, they have plenty of experience in this field.)
We always like to thank all of you who continue to support L & M. We sure are looking forward to spring and seeing each of you once again.
God Bless, and keep in touch.

L&M Fly In Larry, Mary and Shane Adams
