Hello All,
Time sure does fly, here it is August already. Seems like yesterday we were eagerly waiting for the ice to melt off the lakes so we can get to work. We finally got our summer weather. It has not been hot, but finally turned alittle nicer. Still gettting rain on alot of days but we are also getting alot of sunny days. Come to think of it, we ran our A/C in our office only 2 days this summer. Fall will be here before we know it and be closing down for the season during the month of September.
F
ishing as normal, has been good. People have been catching lots of fish and pleased with the fishing. For exact details, as many of you know, check out our web site for the fishing reports of each group.
Cabin projects are coming along very nicely. Since our last newsletter, we have completed our project at Otatakan Lake and it sure does look nice. Fishtrap lake cabin, at the current moment is under "full construction mode". We have everything torn apart and working on putting it all back together to the "new" look. Every day after we get done flying our customers and have our other camp choirs done, we fly to Fishtrap to work the rest of the day. For those who have been to Fishtrap, and are going back, I can promise you that the improvements made, you will totally enjoy, as its a totally new look, more space and better conveniences. There will not be one inch of the cabin that will not be touched in some way, and then plus some as we are also making an addition to the cabin.
For travel plans, some of our customers this year planned on eating at the Mallards Nest/Timber Wolf gas station on the 502 road coming into Dryden. We want to make note, the Mallards Nest establistment locked the doors to the restraunt this year and are not open. So if you were planning on eating there, best to make other plans as they are closed.
Indian Point Camp, many of you have stayed at the night before your trip starts with us. Of those guest who stay there, they like the place very much and enjoy being out on the lake. Indian Point just got the new bunkhouse completed and fit to stay in a couple of nights ago. The Kull Party from WI had the honor of "breaking" in the place, being the first group to stay there. For those who are staying at Indian Point the flight before we fly them in, they will cook a dinner if you request it. Others decide to cook themselves at the cabin or drive into Dryden to eat out. Another place to keep in mind if staying out at Indain Point and you chose not to eat their meal, the Golf coarse just a block before the camp does serve from a menu. We personally have not been there to check things out but had a report of a group stopping in at the Golf Coarse to have a couple of adult beverages and also said they had a menu. Something to keep in mind as its close to Indain Point and our L & M airbase.
Reminder:
1) 2009 Fishing Trips with L & M. For those who have a trip booked with L & M for 2009, and not have paid deposit, your deposit is due to L & M by Sept 1 if you want us to keep holding your dates and also to receive the past 2008 rate. Please have it in on time to L & M to avoid having the chance of being booked out of your slot to another customer. We do reward you by having your deposit in by Sept 1 as you will also get the 2008 rates for your trip in 2009.
2) If you have not booked your 2009 fishing trip and still thinking about it, you can get lined up at any time, just as mentioned above paragraph. Anyone who has the trip booked with deposit paid by Sept 1, get the 2008 rates for your trip in 2009. You can save a few bucks that way. Feel free to check out the specials on our web site as you may be eligable to obtain on of the specials. Our "couples" special is turning into a very popular special. We have received alot of interest from couples looking at trips and even booked a number of groups taking advantage of the "couples" trip special.
3) Just as a fresh remider reminding each of you that you DO NEED to bring a life vest for each person in your group. We have some here but there might not necessarily be enough at the cabin for each of you or have enough at the airbase to loan you. You DO NEED to have one in the boat for each person. If there are any kids in your group, they NEED TO WEAR the vest. One group did get checked by the warden just a couple of weeks ago and one person did not have a vest in the boat for himself and was fined $250 for this offense. You are responsible to have your own life vests that you need to bring with you from home as we do not provide life jackets. That way you have the size that is needed by each person. Things are expensive enough without having a fine to pay and we can not have enough life jackets to fit every person of every body size and type imaginable. This is reputitious info as you should have all read this in the info packet we sent you in the items to bring with you.
That is all for now. We will stay in touch and hopefully you will do the same. Remember, if you have any pictures from your trip that you would want to share with us and maybe get some pictures put on our website, send them to us. We aprreciate that!!!
Hope everyone has a good rest of the summer and we'll stay in touch.
It will be hunting season pretty soon, as all of you know. We enjoy our fall hunting season very much. We will keep you up on what is happening.
